Evaluation of Research Quality
The Research Quality Assessment exercise (in Italian "Valutazione della Qualità della Ricerca" or VQR) is carried out every five years by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes) to assess and incentivise the research carried out by Italian universities and research institutions.
The evaluation process is performed "by Area" and entrusted to Groups of Evaluation Experts, appointed by ANVUR.
VQR results are used to allocate the merit-based share of the Fondo di Finanziamento Ordinario (FFO) the financing fund of the Italian university system.
VQR EXERCISE 2020-2024
The fourth VQR exercise, covering the 2020-2024 five-year period, is regulated by Ministerial Decree no. 998 of August 1, 2023.
