Tecnopanico. Media digitali tra ragionevoli cautele e paure ingiustificate.
This presentation offers an overview of the core themes explored in the book “Tecnopanico. Media digitali, tra ragionevoli cautele e paure ingiustificate.” I'll examine some of the prevalent collective anxieties surrounding digital communication technologies, from misinformation to algorithmic influence and social media's impact on youth. Drawing on insights from fields like cultural evolution and cognitive anthropology, the discussion will distinguish between reasonable cautions, supported by empirical research, and unfounded alarmism, also showing the possible dangers related to the latter. The aim is to provide a framework for a more informed and reasoned engagement with the challenges of the digital age. The session will conclude with a general discussion, inviting broader perspectives on these critical issues.
