Differential Effects of Sodium Oxybate, Trazodone and Dexmedetomidine on Slow Wave Subtype Dynamics in Healthy Humans

Sleep medications differentially affect slow waves: sodium oxybate mimics aspects of recovery sleep by enhancing faster slow waves, trazodone modulates NREM stage 2 oscillations, and dexmedetomidine shows minimal effects. This suggests subtype-specific targets for therapeutic sleep modulation.
